Sitting Pretty

The more flamboyant of the pair showed up today and didn't seem so flighty as yesterday.  Cardinals  don't seem as carefree as some of the other little birds that show up en masse.  This guy's bright feathers certainly don't camouflage well in the winter so I can understand his nervousness.  Especially as I have seen a hawk around lately looking for a meal.  Missing from the bird feeder this year are chickadees and blue jays.  I have seen both in my yard in previous years. A mystery.
