End of Summer

Tomatoes and corn are ripe, sweet, and ready to eat. Sunflowers are blooming and the evening shadows are getting longer.  Summer will soon be drawing to a close.  Officially the last day of Summer is the Fall equinox on September 23, but for many of us in Canada, Summer ends with the Labour Day weekend and back-to- school.

Gone will be the lazy days of Summer which always feel more relaxed and less structured.  Later dinners, later bedtimes, later breakfasts and generally just a more do as you please feeling.

Though it is sad to see Summer go, Autumn is my favourite season.  Ontario will give us a spectacular show of coloured leaves, orange pumpkins, clean cool air, and crisp apples to pick.

I love the cooler nights for sleeping, cozy sweaters, harvest moons, and my favourite holiday meal - Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings.

Enjoy and savour the last days of Summer!
