Thawing

A second March day of 10 °C.  Another walk. This time in rubber boots (yesterday my feet were soaked).  I walked without my ipod this time.  Keeping my ears (and eyes) open for signs of spring.  Hoping to hear the unmistakable warble of the robin or the trill of the red winged blackbird.  Nothing, nada, zilch, zippo.  I hope this not a bad sign (i.e. we are nowhere near done with winter).  It was nice to walk without a hat or gloves through the slush.  Tomorrow will be a different story.  We are in for more snow and very cold temperatures.  The puddles freeze into small skating rinks. The slushy trail will turn into icy ruts of footprints.

Putting that out of my mind I enjoy a March thaw G&T on the deck.  Spring will come.  It has to.
