Wild backyard

It is no secret that I love birds.  They bring the backyard alive with colour and sound.  My daughter caught this big bird having a snack (mourning dove perhaps - they are slow).  Though I don't like the thought that I have basically provided an all you can eat buffet for the hawks and falcons that are around I realize that is the way in nature.  Everything has a purpose and it is all interconnected.

Allison, I looked at the bird on the video and it seems to me that it's a male Cooper's Hawk which is very similar to the Sharp-Shinned Hawk. I'd need more details to confirm. ;-)

Regarding the picture of the moon yesterday, I was surprised to not see Jupiter not very far from the moon... Mars is also so near of Jupiter that it is very difficult to see. Both are in Virgo for now. Moon will be already in Scorpio tomorrow (Saturday) and we should see a very small crescent because the new moon is the 16th. Venus will enter in Capricorn tomorrow.

By the way how is your sister Katherine with her health ?

Always nice to hear from you Real. Katherine is getting through her chemotherapy with only 3 more to go. She is doing well and staying strong. I will be glad for her when she does not have to go through that any longer. I don't know what the bird was either as I did not see it other than the video. I will keep an eye out for it to return to the buffet. I hope you are keeping well. Allison
