When I Grow Up
I want to still be the girl I was when I was 18.
Wiser.
But otherwise the same.
In just about a month from now I will be turning 48. I wonder how that happened, but there you are - it has. 48 going on 18.
This week I had a friend visit (let's call him Doug) that I hadn't seen since I was 18.
Really.
It felt like the 30 years between was a mere blip. A time-warp.
Only the kitchen table has changed.
And the names - to protect the innocent.
30 years
2 children
2 husbands
countless moves
many jobs
more wrinkles
a few more pounds
many sorrows
many more joys
30 years of memories (at least the ones I remember)
But essentially still the same person I was when I was 18.
Wiser.
